Project Manager - Construction

Ascendant is recruiting qualified candidates for Project Manager position to support Federal construction programs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  ​​

Responsibilities

  • Lead work under an FBI Job Order Contract (JOC), managing crews in support of construction projects primarily at the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Headquarters Building in Washington, D.C. and other locations in the metropolitan area

  • Provide estimating, procurement, and project management support for the contract

  • Prepare submittals, schedules, and leads weekly meetings with the customer

  • Provide strong leadership, including strategic planning of projects, financial planning, management of human and physical resources, and supervision in compliance with appropriate company and client standards and procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or institutional general contractor building construction and/or major renovations (15+ years without degree)

  • Federal construction experience is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Experience in Employee & Safety Management

  • Familiarity with USACE Quality Control procedures

  • Working knowledge of RS Means preferred

  • Secret clearance or above

LAC Research Analyst (USTDA)

Ascendant is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a full-time Research Analyst position linked to a five-year contract that we hold with the U.S. Trade & Development Agency. The Research Analyst will perform substantive research, analytical, evaluation, and administrative support functions for the U.S. Trade and Development Agency’ work in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

This position is based in Arlington, VA and is metro accessible (Rosslyn). Remote telework flexibility is offered in the current environment.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years professional experience in a similar capacity

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred

  • Ideal candidates will have education backgrounds and interests in International Relations, International Development, Public Policy, International Trade, Economics, Technology, and other related fields of study

  • Working proficiency in Portuguese is required; Spanish is also desired

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Ability to conduct sophisticated research using numerous resources

  • Ability to compile and analyze data and provide recommendations based upon statistical analysis

  • Ability to analyze programs and processes to determine effectiveness

  • Ability to operate independently to complete tasks and succeed in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Tools including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel

  • Proficiency in conducting internet research, as well as utilizing databases

Construction Carpenter 

Ascendant is recruiting experienced carpenters to support Federal construction programs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our carpenters are involved in every aspect of our construction projects. Their understanding of how it all comes together, focus on customer mission, and quality workmanship ensures that our projects achieve objectives and are completed safely, on schedule, and on budget.

These positions are based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area including the Baltimore-Washington corridor and Northern Virginia.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in rough and finish carpentry; commercial office and Government facility renovation experience preferred

  • Ability to review project plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required

  • General knowledge of all trades and their interaction to efficiently work on the project

  • Ability to diagnose and creatively solve problems and challenges inherent in multiple trade construction projects

  • Ability to operate both independently and in a team environment to complete tasks and succeed in a fast-paced environment

  • Good writing and communication skills

  • Focus on Safety for the individual, crew, project participants, building occupants, and public

  • Secret clearance or above

  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license

Construction Electrician (US)

Ascendant is recruiting experienced electricians to support Federal construction programs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our electricians play a critical role on our teams; their focus on customer mission and quality workmanship ensures that our projects achieve objectives and are completed safely, on schedule, and on budget. Positions are subject to Davis-Bacon Act with hourly compensation dependent on project site location.

These positions are based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area including the Baltimore-Washington corridor and Northern Virginia.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience installing electrical systems (conduit & wire, lighting, panels, fire alarm, etc.)

  • Journeyman’s License or equivalent; Master’s preferred

  • General knowledge of major distribution system components such as switchgear, transformers, panels, UPS, and related systems

  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems and challenges inherent in multiple trade construction projects

  • Ability to operate both independently and in a team environment to complete tasks and succeed in a fast-paced environment

  • Good writing and communication skills

  • Focus on safety for the individual, crew, project participants, building occupants, and public

  • Secret clearance or above

  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license
